What’s Happening with LEGO?

In March of 2026, FIRST announced it would end its partnership with LEGO after nearly three decades. This raises many questions about the future of FIRST LEGO League and Adventist Robotics.

Is Adventist Robotics ending after next season? 

No. We are looking forward to continuing to provide quality robotics experiences for Adventist youth!

I heard that FIRST LEGO League is ending. What does that mean?

FIRST and LEGO are ending their partnership after the 2026-27 FIRST CANOPY/BIOGLOW season. FIRST will continue to provide quality robotics tournaments with a new name for students in grades 4-8 along with a new experience for students in Pre-K thru 3rd grade.

What is BIOGLOW Founders Edition and BIOGLOW Future Edition?

Founders Edition is the game that we know and love! Adventist Robotics will use only the Founders Edition at our tournaments during the 2026-27 BIOGLOW season. Future Edition uses a new LEGO product and is a completely different program, not supported by Adventist Robotics.

Can we continue to use the SPIKE Prime robot?

Yes. FIRST is committed to allowing the SPIKE Prime robot through at least the 2027-28 Season. However, during the 2027-28 season, FIRST will begin transitioning to a new robotics platform.

I want to start a team in the 2026-27 Season. How can I get a robot if LEGO is no longer selling them?

What is the new robotics platform that will replace LEGO?

FIRST is evaluating age-appropriate robotics platforms. Stay tuned over the next 12 months for details about the new program.

When will registration open for the 2026-27 FIRST CANOPY/BIOGLOW season?

Registration will open near the end of May. If you register, then you will have your materials in early August.

Can I keep my team number?

Yes, FIRST LEGO League Founders Edition teams can keep their existing team number if the renew their team registration on the FIRST Dashboard.

When are next year’s tournaments?

Tournament dates can be found here: Calendar – Adventist Robotics. These are subject to change as the sponsoring organizations finalize their calendars.
