It’s way more than building robots. FIRST Tech Challenge teams (up to 15 members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have!”
Guided by adult Coaches and Mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles (like keeping an engineering notebook), while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and can be programmed using a variety of languages, including Java. Teams also must raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach for which they can win awards. Participants have access to tens of millions of dollars in college scholarships.

ServoCity Starter Kit
The ServoCity FTC Competition Kit is a compilation that includes 1,251 of the best FTC approved parts to set your team up for a successful year of competing. The kit includes a variety of structural components from the versatile Actobotics Channel and X-Rail down to the mini channel and aluminum beams for those space limited areas within your robot. In addition to the popular Hitec HS-485HB servos, you’ll receive one of the continuous rotation servos and includes all necessary parts to build a team favorite- ServoBlocks™ for two servos. We’ve even selected AndyMark® NeveRest motors to be included in the kit since they’re known to be the best FTC approved motors available. Rather than us selecting the ratio, we’ve provided you the freedom to choose any combination you want. To transfer power from these premier servos and motors you’ll receive gears, mounts, horns, hubs and shafting. Get ready to ‘roll’ to competition with this kit as it comes with precise stainless ball bearings.
